Small Lot Collection
As Winemaking tastes each individual lot of wine from the myriad of distinct blocks on our Bell Mountain Estate ranch, they discover that certain parts of the vineyard are best as components for limited production blends. These micro blocks are identified and, over time and experimentation, they become part of our Small Lot Collection. These wines are 100% estate-grown, organic, and initially released to our Wine Club Members before being made available online or at our Tasting Room.
This exceptional trio includes the award-winning 2013 and 2014 Kate's & B's Cabernet Sauvignon, and the new release 2015 Kate's & B's Cabernet Sauvignon.
This wine perfectly typifies the unique Merlot that we produce from our vineyard. The classic descriptor that pops up every year is “iron fist in a velvet glove”, a delicate balance of smoothness and power. In the 2014, dark fruit predominates, backed up by a supporting cast of black & white pepper, and followed by a finish with notes of cocoa powder and tar.

The wine offers a trifecta of ripe fruity aromas - blackberry, blueberry, and cherry - supported by flavors of tobacco, cocoa, caramel, and spice. The judicious use of American oak adds a bit more espresso notes to the profile.
Primary aromas of black pepper and fresh herbs, complemented by notes of cherry, raspberry, and lavender. On the palate, soft tannins and lively acids make for a well-framed wine.
The 2015 Secret Ingredient Malbec generously offers primary aromas of chocolate covered orange peel, boysenberry, roasted meat, vanilla, lavender, and notes of coffee. On the palate, the wine is rich and full with an intriguing sleekness, followed by juicy acid.
The 2015 Right Bank Red provides an ethereal sensation. It is bright, floral, and perfumed, with the aroma of new leather, like walking into a saddle shop. On the palate, there is plenty of raspberry and tobacco leaf, with notes of citrus peel, and a hint of caramel.
This is a great example of a classic Russian River Valley Pinot Noir with perfumed and elegant aromas of flowers, cherry, coffee, caramel, and a hint of tobacco leaf.
