Small Lot Collection
As Winemaking tastes each individual lot of wine from the myriad of distinct blocks on our Bell Mountain Estate ranch, they discover that certain parts of the vineyard are best as components for limited production blends. These micro blocks are identified and, over time and experimentation, they become part of our Small Lot Collection. These wines are 100% estate-grown, organic, and initially released to our Wine Club Members before being made available online or at our Tasting Room.
This Trio includes the 2012 Kate's and B's Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2013 Kate's & B's Cabernet Sauvignon, and the 2014 Kate's & B's Cabernet Sauvignon.
We harvested our Chardonnay in four different lots, each ripening at different times with varying levels of maturity and often earlier than most vintners in our region. This provides us fruit that is both crisp and ripe with unique flavors from the Chardonnay “spice rack.” Our two favorite lots became the foundation of our Small Lot Collection Lower Slope Chardonnay.
The fruit shines through with touches of spice reflecting our early picking decision. The 2014 Moss Oak Pinot Noir is a nice play between light and dark fruit with a rustic, long finish. The coolness of the appellation echoes with each sip.
This wine offers a berry explosion. Raspberry, cherry, blueberry, and blackberry leap out of the glass, followed by notes of lavender, gunsmoke, graphite, and white pepper.
The 2015 Right Bank Red provides an ethereal sensation. It is bright, floral, and perfumed, with the aroma of new leather, like walking into a saddle shop. On the palate, there is plenty of raspberry and tobacco leaf, with notes of citrus peel, and a hint of caramel.
This wine perfectly typifies the unique Merlot that we produce from our vineyard. The classic descriptor that pops up every year is “iron fist in a velvet glove”, a delicate balance of smoothness and power. In the 2014, dark fruit predominates, backed up by a supporting cast of black & white pepper, and followed by a finish with notes of cocoa powder and tar.
This wine offers exotic aromas of passionfruit and tropical flowers, violets, and plum in and earthy concoction of forest floor and sweet aromatic leather shop aromas. It is earthy, leathery and full of intense flavors and minerality.
The wine offers plentiful aromas of blueberry and espresso. On the palate this wine is big and powerful. Wonderful now and this wine will continue to develop over the next ten years.
The 2014 Kate’s and B’s offers primary aromas of blackberry, black currant, and raspberry, with supporting notes of cinnamon and orange peel. On the palate, the wine is concentrated and dense, with soft but firm tannins.
