Each of our Cabernet Sauvignons are crafted from over 25 different blocks and styled in a way that shows what this grape can do throughout one vineyard. The Wedding Tree Cabernet Sauvignon is an evolution of the original Kate’s & B’s wine that was named for the wives of the founders and crafted in a way that showed the elegance of the grape and subtlety of tannins that only Alexander Valley and our special spot at Bell Mountain Vineyard can create. We have renamed this same style of Cabernet Sauvignon after an ancient, stately olive tree that provided the backdrop for the first wedding ever held at Bell Mountain more than 20 years ago. This tree cast its great branches over the couple as they shared their vows and had endured all the wonders and harshness that mother nature has thrown at Bell Mountain over the years. This tree remains steadfast as it did all those years ago and remains a symbol of love and devotion today.

The 2021 Wedding Tree showcases the style that we love to make from Cabernet grown on Bell Mountain. It does not disappoint with its bouquet of maraschino cherries, blackberry liqueur, vanilla, blueberries, fresh walnuts, and hints of rosemary and thyme. Each sniff of the glass reveals more aromas that evolve over time. The wine shows bright acidity, lush fruit, and long silky tannins. Black cherry, tangerine, and chocolate flavors remain through the finish.

Vintage

2021 vintage is one to remember. The vines enjoyed mild ripening weather throughout the summer and fall with very few days of intense heat spikes. This allowed us to pick at the ideal time for each variety and block at Bell Mountain Vineyard. The acidity held up as the flavor and fruit development continued with ample ripening time for an abundance of aromatic qualities and elegant fruit flavors to develop. Drought conditions for the second consecutive year impacted vine vigor and crop potential. Berry and cluster sizes were on the smaller side but yielded a high concentration of flavor. 2021 has some of the lowest yields since we’ve been farming Bell Mountain Vineyard, but this was offset by the exceptional quality of the wines.
