2023 Bell Mountain Special Select Cabernet Sauvignon
Bell Mountain Special Select was born from a vintage that gave us more than we expected. The Cabernet from this year showed great balance and character, and we saw an opportunity to let more of the vineyard’s potential shine. This wine offers a fresh take on Bell Mountain, made with the same care, but with a focus on approachability and easy enjoyment, while still carrying the bold structure and depth to age gracefully, as all our Cabernets from this special site do.
Bell Mountain Special Select opens with aromas of blackberry and blueberry layered with allspice, fresh walnuts, and a hint of rosemary. On the palate, it’s bright and juicy, with round tannins and a lively acidity that keeps it fresh. Flavors of cola, cherry, and a burst of raspberry carry through to a long finish, framed by elegant notes of sage and bay leaf. Thoughtful oak aging brings just the right balance and structure, letting the fruit and savory complexity shine. Enjoy alongside grilled lamb chops, earthy mushroom risotto, or rosemary pork loin for a meal that will complement the wine’s depth and vibrancy.

Vintage
The 2023 vintage was exceptional in so many ways and is expected to stand out as one of the finest. Beginning with a much-needed abundance of rainfall, a welcome relief after three years of intense drought, the vineyards came back to life with vibrant soil and canopies. A cool spring and summer allowed for a prolonged and gradual ripening period, resulting in exceptional phenolic ripeness and abundant flavors without excessively high sugar levels. Harvest kicked off later than usual, progressing at a steady pace that required lots of patience. This promises to be a vintage worth remembering and one that will let Bell Mountain truly express itself and we can't wait to savor the fruits of this extraordinary season.
